My friend was telling me she'd got to take the afternoon off to take her non dementia mother for an appointment at hosp.

No worries, I can take her- plan sorted. Grateful friend

Roll on a day or two.

Very embarrassing convo with friend ( good job she was a good friend!)

Story...
When I'd arrive to collect her, the carer was just leaving ( she does a bit of housework for H) . She'd reported back to her agency that i'd said that H must pay me before we went for the appointment ! In turn the agency had talked to friend about my potential to extort money from her elderly mother.

What did I say? ( fortunately I remember it well!)

''H, before we go, you'll have to spend a penny''

Much as I appreciate she was trying to protect her client, it was a clear case of the downside of a carer who doesn't have English as her native tongue

:eek::eek::eek:

It is funny but wow, that sort of misunderstanding could lead to a major drama!

Crikey, that's something else to be careful with :eek:

It's like the "in" jokes families have that could be misconstrued, I'd never thought of that.

your lucky no-one over reacted and called the police. At least the carer was caring. You have to give them that!
