@Dianej How much longer can you go on like this? Have you had a Carer’s Assessment? You need more help.

I went for years allowing people to stay at mum’s on holiday because I didn’t want to step on toes, but eventually I had no choice but to tell people straight: sorry, you can’t stay there anymore. Anything that disrupts her/his daily routine causes terrible anxiety and confusion for her/him. Or in your case long visits. It’s not fair on you or him.

I wish I had a pound for every time I heard, “she seems fine, from what you were saying I’d expected her to be much worse…” Arghh ?

@Dianej, that sounds horrendously difficult. There is medication that could help with sundowning. You have to ask for it. As with most things to do with dementia, carers are rarely told about it or offered it.
Yes I asked the dementia nurse...not the GP who prescribed sleeping tablets, that would have made him more confused and disorientated ?‍♀️
