This is the most positive news story regarding hopes for a cure that I have seen in a long while, so i thought I'd share it:

http://www.theage.com.au/news/Natio...Alzheimers-cure/2006/07/23/1153593193260.html

or

or

Am extra interested because my father took part in the original trials, PBT1 in Melbourne.

If this latest trial does prove successful then at least I can feel as if Dad helped in some way to find the cure, and his suffering hasn't been for nothing.

Hi Nat and Margarita

This sounds positive!

I also read in the paper at the weekend that they've recently had some success in testing for dementia by looking at eyes. Apparently, the amyloid present in the brain is also present in small traces in the eyes. They are testing on mice at the moment, but they sounded optimistic. Of course, it helps with an early diagnosis but we need a cure!

Fingers crossed.

Actually we need to know whats triggering the disease in the first place

I believe its environmental toxins but i bet they wont want that admitted

How is your mum heath? Does your mum take any medication for any medical problem or need to but does not take them

Not takeing about medication for AD

someone told me that stress can trigger it AD

It does make me wonder even thought my mum is diabetic and never look after her heath so her cholesterol was very high , after the shock of my father dieing . my mum , 6 moths later was told she had AD, so could the stress of dad dieing could have trigger it of

My mother believed her illness was caused by flea-powder poisoning 5 years ago. No way of proving it of course.

There should be more post mortems, for the benefit of future generations.
