I have just phoned our local hospital to ask about Speech and Language Therapy for Alan. I got through straight away to the Team Leader and she told me they specialise in dealing with dementia and PPA. She said the only criteria is that the person would need to be under a Psychogeriatrician or consultant. I told her that Alan had seen a Psychogeriatrician and that he had a definite diagnosis of FTD and that I believed he had PPA. She said she I had definitely got through to the right people and that she believed they would be able to help us and she would ring me back tomorrow when she had made some enquiries. They can work from my home and even if they couldn't this hospital it literally just up the road and round the corner!!

Watch this space I feel thrilled but angry that no one had even mentioned to me that speech and language therapy might help.

Helen so pleased for you and bare in mind everyone with AD is different, trev had 2 speach therapists for a year, they did all these pictures and words with him but had to admit defeat, i think it was their frustration at not getting a result rather than trev but not seen them for dust for a year. hope you have a more positive result, love pam, my garden is showing result of tlc and i love it, because my efforts can make a difference if you know what i mean love pam
