Dear Sooty, I can understand how worrying it must be for you, having vascular dementia on both sides of the family, with the possibility of it being hereditory.

On the other hand, you know the score, and can make sure that your BP is kept in check, and that you have a healthy lifestyle.

Try to stay positive. I hope you have a lovely Christmas.

And don't worry!:D

Love,

Hi Diane,

I have the same fear. My mother just died of Alzheimers. Her younger sister is in the last stage of that illness as well, but there are 2 older sisters who have it as well and they are actually at a much better stage. They are still functioning and still at home. Why ? Well, I do have an explanation. The older sisters still have a partner. My mother and her younger sister lost their husbands a very long time ago.

Does anybody have a similar experience ?

I would hereby also like to thank all the partners of people with this illness. I truly believe they make a huge difference. You people do an incredible job. Love you all.
