Hubby not well

Hi folks
Hubby slept solidly pretty much all of yesterday, and most of the night, but this morning was still "off his legs" (I thought that was a slang expression but it's what the doctor said). When Dr came today he said hubby should be in hospital - they'll keep an eye on him over the weekend and if he is no better they'll change the antibiotics, do blood tests, get physio involved. Nurse told me it's quite likely that he will be put on continuous low level antibiotics but nothing new will happen over the weekend so we'll just wait and see.

When the care worker was here this morning the two of us got hubby washed but put him in fresh pjs and back to bed as he was unable to stand up. Since that involved two of us there's no chance at all of managing safely on my own so I am relieved that he is in hospital till everything is sorted out and hopefully he will be home again. He is in our small local hospital, just a ten minute walk for me at visiting time.

Posting on TP and receiving lovely messages make a real difference. It's wonderful to feel that I am not alone. Thank you - God bless xx

I'm relieved that your hubby is receiving specialist care - we were all so worried, not just about him, but also about you. Hopefully things will be sorted out, and meanwhile, you can get some rest and recuperation too. xxx

This afternoon hubby was sitting sleeping in chair - much as he does at home. Nurse thinks antibiotics are kicking in so we'll see what the doctor says tomorrow. They mentioned blood tests earlier on but I'm not sure whether or not that is still planned.

He might be home on Tuesday - we'll see what tomorrow brings.

When hubby is here I struggle to get a decent sleep, yet when he isn't here I still find it difficult - maybe tonight zzzzzzzzzzzzz

This afternoon hubby sitting in chair snoozing for a while. Then he woke up and said who are you and what are you doing here? You'd better go away as I am expecting my wife today. I said ok I'll go, hope she arrives soon. Five minutes later I arrived again and that was ok. Got some funny looks from other visitors in the three-bed ward. It's a general ward and the other patients do not have dementia so I suppose they might have been wondering what kind of game we were playing.

OH will be home tomorrow - nurse said the UTI has cleared up which is miraculous as they don't seem to have done any of the "further tests" gp recommended, no blood tests either (other than INR/Warfarin test). Physiotherapist came round to check on OH's walking he kept saying, my word isn't he managing well, Oh well done, etc., but it is obvious to me that each time he has had UTI he never gets back to the same level as before.

Well, tomorrow is another day so we'll see how it goes.

Lilac xx

Lilac I hope they don't send him home too soon, you need to make sure he's well enough that you can cope when he does come home. Are you going to have any extra care when he comes back? xxxx

Hubby got home on Tuesday afternoon. He seemed very glad to be home as he had very little understanding of what was going on in hospital. They haven't done any of the tests previously mentioned, eg blood tests to make sure leukaemia has not become active.

We just carry on as before, except that each time there is UTI episode where hubby is off his legs, it never returns to the same level as previously.
