Yesterday next of Kin were called into the Hospital (at 5:15pm) - Grandad was in and out of consciousness and his stomach was swelling (they said this is his organ's failing). He's battled through the night (stubborn). How long will this fight go on for?? I hope he doesn't suffer but at the same time I am heart broken that this is how his life is ending.

I am sorry to read that you are at this stage as it is always a sad time.
Unfortunately there is no easy answer to your question as every person is different and bedside vigils can be short or long. I think the only thing to do is stay in contact with the medical team and be assured that your Grandad will be kept comfortable, as is the norm.

Believe it or not somehow he has pulled round and is looking to be sent home tomorrow. Stubborn at heart, if he’s not ready he won’t go!!!
