Hi all

Mum had her very first assessment today she scored 11 out of 30, I knew she was bad but didn't think she was that bad, also the specialist confirmed she had severe vascular dementia. On the plus side he couldn't believe we were only getting 30 mins help a week to shower mum:confused:, so he is to get in touch with the Social Worker and tell her we need more help, preferably another day at the day centre as the stimulation is what she needs more than anything. he also said there was not any point in her going through any more scans etc. as they would only upset her, so really we are to continue as we are doing and hope to get more help from social svcs (I won't hold my breath), maybe they will listen to him and get something moving for us, I truely hope so.

Thanks for listening.
Jenny:)

Hello Jenny:

I think it good that you have a specialist who understands more help is needed. If SS do not respond then please SHOUT loudly.

Does your Mum already attend a day centre? If she does and enjoys it then another day (or two) will be great!!

Hello Jan

Thanks for your reply, yes mum started going to the day centre just four weeks ago but she really enjoys it, when she comes home I will say, "Well what did you do today?" The answer is always the same "Don't remember. But I enjoyed myself", so as long as she knows she enjoyed it that good enough for me.
As far as the specialist is concerned he seems like a very nice and caring man I hope SS will take notice of him. Keeping fingers crossed.

Thanks again

Jenny:)
