Right then everyone, I have booked a holiday for myself and my lovely husband who has FTD. It is not a specialised holiday because of dementia, it has been booked because it was on offer and seemed to suit us.
4 star hotel with half board, flights and transfers.
I hope I have done the right thing and not landed myself with a problem I can't cope with.
Does anyone offer any advice, tips?

We are not too needy at the moment, but should I alert the airlines, holiday people or the insurance company?

I am looking forward to the holiday and I am sure my lovely husband is too, (albeit he will have forgotten about it by now)

Any advice/experience would be good for me.
thanks,

a lifted spirit

I'm glad you've booked a holiday. Well done.

You do need to declare the medical condition on your travel insurance. It makes it a bit dearer but you'll know you're covered.

Until recently I haven't informed the airline. My husband's needs have changed a lot and now I do inform them. The main reasons are that I book assistance to the plane and that I can get free extra baggage allowance to carry continence products. I realise you probably won't need any of that.

We're going to Spain in May but I'm taking a carer with us. I've done that once before and it was great for us. This time I intend to tell cabin staff. This is mainly because he seems to enjoy opening his seat belt when he shouldn't! Also so that they're aware that one of us will assist him in the loo. You may feel it not necessary to tell cabin staff but it might just be an idea so that they understand any 'quirky' behaviour!

I take a little infra red alarm with me. I place this across the door so that if he tries to wander into the corridor during the night I'll hear it! This is because he did that twice once on s holiday to Turkey!!

Have a great time!
