Two days ago I found out that my darling partner has dementia, and I am crying inside. He has to have some more tests yet, but the Dr at the hospital said it is possibly vascular, with a bit of parkinsons and small strokes, I have known for about three years that he was very forgetful, also he has just been sitting staring into space. I do hope having this site will help me be strong and cope.

You will find a wealth of kindness, empathy and useful information from the contributors to this forum. Many of them have been coping with the dementia of a loved one for years, and really know what you are going through, in both practical & emotional terms. I know it's difficult, but try to find 'positives' where you can. Now that your partner has been assessed and diagnosed, he may be able to benefit from the medications which are available to slow down the symptoms of AD.
