    He's at peace.

On Saint Georges day Ron took his last journey across the forest.

The verges were bathed in yellow broom.

    The church was full.

    The day was sunny.

    I was not too sad.

He had been released from his baby state.

Not talking, being changed ,being fed.

    It was quick.

    Pnuemonia took hold.

    I requested no intervention.

The nursing home staff were discreet.

    The family were there .

    We lit candles.

Yes he is at peace and so am I.

    Dear Cynthia

So sorry that you have lost your dear husband.

It is good that you allowed him a peaceful end, without intervention, and you had such a lovely day for his funeral.

Ron's suffering is over, and I am so glad that you too have found peace.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you in the weeks to come.

    Love,

    Dear Cynthia,
Your post is so beautiful - dignified, elegant and heartfelt.
I am so sorry for you that your Ron has gone, but glad too that he is at peace now.
May you also find peace in the knowledge that you did everything you could for him, including letting him go (which is such a hard, hard thing to do).
Please take care of yourself now.
    My sincerest condolences.
