I need help with the care of my 90 year old mum. She has challenging behaviour and mixed dementia and I am really struggling. I’ve done it for 3 years without a day off. The care offered seems to be for an hour at a gym or a massage or such like. What I need is respite. Even a couple of days would stop me from cracking up. How do I get it?

Hello @Icantremember2, you are welcome here and I hope you find the forum a friendly, informative and supportive place.
The first thing that strikes me is that you are entitled to a needs assessment for each of you. Here's a link to an AS Factsheet that will give you details and I hope it helps https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/sites...assessment_for_care_in_support_in_england.pdf

There is a specific Factsheet relating to respite care and here's a link to that too https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/sites..._replacement_care_respite_care_in_england.pdf
