hello @Derek8332
welcome to TP
you are wise to sort out the legal stuff so you can put it to the back of your mind
might be worth making sure your wills are as you want them
you can do POAs yourselves using the online service - links below
https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...ing-power-of-attorney-a-guide-web-version#A10
https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/lasting-power-of-attorney-forms

this is the AS booklet about POAs
Lasting Power of attorney (472)
I'd suggest you arrange them for both your wife and yourself, as then your situations are covered should anything happen to you
do both POA for finance & property AND health & welfare
and if possible have 2 Attorneys to act jointly and severally with a named replacement (not wholly necessary, but again covers all bases)
I believe CAB and AgeUK may help you with them
and the AS Helpline have folk who are well trained to help with POA matters, so if you want to talk to a person in real time, give them a call

Here are the forms from the government website: https://www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney
You can either fill them in online then print them for signatures or have them send you hard copies. They come with plenty of guidance notes so you should be ok, but you can also get free help from charities like Age UK, Alzheimer's Society or your local Carers Centre - or simply ask us. You don't legally need to employ a solicitor for this, and they would just input the info you give them.

Best of luck! I did it myself so you can too.
