Hello I was diagnosed with mixed dementia in December last year and am fortunate to be able to carry on working as a Taxi Dispatcher. A lady who has been a regular customer of ours for many years has recently revealed that her husband has had Alzheimers for some time, is elderly and two days ago had a fall whilst on a shopping trip. She said that they have a helper to help him get out of bed and get washed and dressed in the mornings and one person to sit with him for 4hrs once a fortnight which is the only time she herself gets any time on her own. Is there any more help available to them in the Dorset area they are both in their 80s. Any suggestions you have would be really appreciated. Papa1

The carer is entitled to a carers assessment by a social worker and should call adult social services to see if more support is available.
