Having trouble getting repeat prescription of Amisulpride, gp wont issue as its an amber drug whatever that is and hospital only gave me two weeks. Hospital Doctor said she might be able to give me a weeks prescription to tide her over. Who exactly should be giving the repeat? Have been on to numerous NHS departments today and all passing the buck.

Hello. sorry I'm probably not going to be of much help Were you given a letter on discharge from the hospital to take to the GP that listed the medication to be prescribed.
If not it may be that the GP has not received any notification from the hospital about prescribing this medication so is unwilling to prescribe it.
I am not sure how you can solve this problem, hopefully others here who can be of more help will be along later today

A formal shared agreement has to be made between the consultant and the GP
amber– drugs which are appropriate to be initiated and stabilised by a
specialist in secondary or tertiary care, once stabilised the drug may be
appropriate for responsibility to be transferred from secondary to primary care
with the agreement of a GP and a formal ‘shared care’ agreement.

My husband has Acupan and Diazapam my doctor won't issue a repeat prescription I have to phone each time and he decides if he should have it, he has always agreed so far but told us that there are certain drugs they are not allowed to put on repeat prescription,
My daughter was prescribed a drug for effects of her Crohn's disease by the hospital consultant but the GP surgery has always refused to follow the prescription despite the fact that it would help ease her pain considerably. It is all about cost.
Spoke to GP this morning and she was aware of the situation and is trying to get the mental health team to issue a prescription and still haven't had any visits from CPN who was supposed to visit everyday,still waiting for a phone call.
PALS rang today and asked me who I had spoke to, within 10 minutes the psychiatrist secretary had faxed the prescription to our chemist for delivery.
Its been two days since I tried to get the prescription with only 4days of tablets left but PALS sorted it in minutes. Unfortunately chemist has no stock so will have to chase tomorrow as they are closed on the weekend.
