Grant aid for adaptations

Admin, I came across this link - Complete Care Shop have put together the info for disability grant aid in the UK (but apparently Scotland has different rules) on one handy page here: http://www.completecareshop.co.uk/article/14/59/disabled_facilities_grants.html
Thought it would be useful, but I've no idea where it should go on the fourm. Could someone move it to whereever it should be? Thanks.

This is n/a for us now, but it is a well-expressed document .

Why can't the OTs and SWs tell people when they are doing their assessments that they may qualify for one of these grants...

necessary and appropriate to meet the disabled person’s needs

is where the system, in practice, falls down.

Mum got a grant (pre dementia) to convert a separate loo and bathroom in to one large wet room.

May I just warn people the council wanted to do adaptions for my step mother to live at home:

The problem was I owned it.

At that stage I knew she would not last long in the bungalow and I asked who would be responsible for the cost of restoring the bungalow to its original state and the answer was not the council.

As she had the right to live in the bungalow till death or entering care I am not sure if the council could have done the alterations without my consent but she was transferred in to care before anything else happened.
