Hiya
My nan has dementia it is now getting to the point where my grandfather cannot cope anymore. I try my hardest to go there as much as possible but with my own life this proves very stressful.
We have now come to the conclusion she needs to go into a home. My question which has probably been asked a million times before
Will my grandfather be forced to sell their house which is in joint names to cover her cost of a care home? Surely all the time he is alive they cannot force him to do this?
Thanks for any help/info!
xx

"Will my grandfather be forced to sell their house which is in joint names to cover her cost of a care home? "

As long as your grandfather remains in the house it will be disregarded in the financial assessment.

Only assets in your grandmother's sole name and half of those held jointly with you father will be included in the assessment.
