Granddaughters Lament

[Norman]

When my Peg died one of our Granddaaughters wrote this poem.

Sadness is the colour of cold blue,
Sadness smells like Bluebells in spring,
Sadness looks like a gloomygrey sky,
Sadness sounds like raindrops tapping on the roof,
Sadness feels like no one wants you,
Sadness tastes like teardrops falling into your mouth,
Sadness makes me cry........about my Nanny.

She gave it to me at Peg's funeral,but this is the first time I felt felt able to share it

Would agree with the sentiments except:

Sadness feels like no one wants you

That could/would never apply in Peg's case.

Somehow, children are able to express their emotions in simple language which can arouse the deepest emotions.

This line

Sadness tastes like teardrops falling into your mouth,

is something I wouldn't have thought of, but it really strikes home.

Your granddaughter is very talented, and obviously thought the world of your Peg.
