Good news and bad news

The social worker came yesterday and needed absolutely no persuading to agree to my husband having respite care of ten weeks a year. I have heard that the respite home I declined two years ago is now under new management and much improved. The management have set up a carers' forum so that carers have a regular opportunity to discuss things with the staff and I thought that sounded very positive. The social worker has asked me to let him have a list of dates and, today, my husband is quite amenable to the idea. Tomorrow it may be a different story of course! However, I am determined to take this a step at a time.

That's the good news. The bad news is that, a couple of hours ago, I discovered water pouring through the living-room ceiling. When I investigated, I found that my husband has turned the basin taps in the bathroom full on and the basin had overflowed. We only had a new living-room carpet laid six months ago! I'm hoping it will dry out in time. At least it has now stopped dripping.

Bad news

Good news about respite, I'm sure you need it.

Bad news about flood. I had the same problem with Mum and Dad. They would leave taps running, normally the hot tap. It was costing quite a lot of money in gas (combi boiler). Fortunately they never (recently) put the plug in so no flood for a while.
I had self closing taps fitted, thinking problem solved, but sadly they can't work them. Can't get the concept of push, not turn through.

OMG I do feel for you that is why I was told that in new house do not lay
Carpet or wood flooring because of leaking in new house , did not think of that happeing , in what happen to you . what you can do now is only thing positive sod the money, easy for me to say NOT because its happen to me with wood flooring and children flooding bathroom into frount room , pall carpet up if to much damage and then lay vinyl, if you have not got the money to do that just yet , don’t worry have a good rest while your husband on respite .

My teenager damage part of 2k worth of wood flooring when then they left bathroom bath flood 2 or 3 time , now as I am moving I am trying to lift what is left in bedrooms front room slot in wood flooring yes I have given up , its so hard trying to lift them up .

I have to start all over angina when I move next Thursday, so what have I gone and done yes we are having a party next Saturday as its my birthday on Wednesday mum not back till 31 st so next Saturday , I and my teenagers have invited nearly all the people on the estate where I have lived for 17 years , its going to be on hell of a noise good bye party , as I move back in to the street behind where I was Brought up as a child talk about life being a circle

So pleased about your good news! About the carpet, there are carpet cleaning specialists who specialise in rescuing carpets after flooding. I think you'd find them under Carpet Cleaners in the phone book. As your carpet is so new I think it would be worth consulting them. Good Luck! Nell

Thank you for the advice, Nell. Fortunately, the new carpet seems to have dried out all right. I'm still waiting to see what happens with the landing carpet which was completely sodden and not yet dry. But if it has left a stain I will certainly call in an expert.

Did you audition for Big Brother? How did it go?

Its not till the 11th February in London , but with all the controversy last week with celebrity big brother , its really worrying me that they may eat me alive lol like they did with Shilpa shetty .

I was one of the many that complained to the TV broadcasting About her treatment from those other woman about the bullying, stereotyping, ignorant racisms remarks , and I don’t care what other people say as they go into denial, shove it under the carpet say its culture different, it was about time that we stamp that behaviour out on TV, we see it enough in really life to have to see it realty TV , well I say we seen it , I should say I have had it done to me from very uneducated ignorant people when I came to England with my mother father in the 60s , (I must say that some of those people where educated ) then again when I married a man that was from a different race then mine and the English society my parents emigrated to in the 60s

I think you're right to be worried about BB. Apparently the producers like to put people in who will stir up trouble, and also people who are likely to be upset. It creates headlines, brings in more viewers, more votes and more money.

I don't know if you are emotionally strong enough to stand the pressure -- I know I couldn't do it.

Think about it carefully.
