Thanks all, I went out in my car today and the feeling of freedom was unbelievable. I know I will have other mountains to climb but that last operation was very testing for me. But I survived it and that is what counts.

Had my 18 month check up for the lymph node dissection and the six week check up for the aneurysm clipping today and got good results from both. I can drive again and can fly out to see my son and granddaughter in Broken Hill. So I am able to make plans for the future again.

So glad to hear this good news. 'Onward and upward!'
Very best wishes. xx

Nine weeks out now, still have some trouble with scheduling and an occasional headache but more my old self now. Passed Father's Day, Ray's birthday and the anniversary of his death, some of the most emotional days of the year as far as I am concerned. Spring is here so there is plenty to keep me busy so I don't have time to feel sorry for myself.

I went to stay with my daughter for a couple of nights, the first time since my brain operation. Not an adventurous move but at least I am out and about more now. We had a lovely lunch after a women's meeting and came home to a very tasty meal cooked by my grandson Christopher. A good two day break away.

Good to hear you're recovering so well, @sunray . And I'm sure the little break with your daughter will have done you a world of good.

I've been up to Broken Hill to visit my son Trevor for his birthday and spend some time with my granddaughter Alice. It was dry, hot and very dusty there. No significant rain for months,no drought breaking rain for years. We didn't get out a lot due to high winds and dusty conditions but we had dinner out for Trevor's birthday and as Alice was with us five out of seven days I had a lot of conversations with her. I enjoy just being with them. Now it is back to the pre-Christmas rush so not a lot of free time. This is the time I miss being part of a couple as most events are couples events and I am a "spare". Not to worry I survived 2019 and that is what matters. Onwards and upwards into 2020.

It sounds as if you’ve had a lovely time. I know exactly what you mean about being the ‘spare’ and missing the things couple do together - especially at this time of the year. As you say - onwards and upwards!

Hello Sue, I’m not here very much these days main,y because I have little to offer now. I just want to say how pleased I am that you re recovering well from your operations and to wish you well. It’s lovely to hear that you have been spending time with your family too. Precious moments I’m sure. x

I got through all the preparations for Christmas lunch at my house, there were ten of us, Shirley and family, Pam and family and a friend from church who I knew would be alone. This was somewhat stressful, first time for five years that Christmas lunch had been here but I pulled it off and everyone went home happy. Maybe I am finally realising that as the old saying goes: " If it's going to be it has to be me." Have a happy New Year everybody or as happy as you can manage under the circumstances.

Just went about six hours north west of here to visit an old friend. On the way up the grass was brown and the land was bare. Five days later after some rain green was again showing in some places but in others the land was still dusty and dry. We continue to fight fires and cart hay out the the northern and western districts where the drought is still gripping the land. We continue to pray for rain in drought affected areas. I did enjoy my time away from home.

I’m glad you enjoyed your time away @sunray. It’s so awful to think what it must be like though. Such devastation. :(

Just had my yearly review with the melanoma specialist. As usual I was told what was in the PET scan report and mostly it was good news. The exception was the thyroid condition which basically is deteriorating faster than expected. I am having the operation in three weeks time so will know after that if it is cancerous or not. The outcome could be more treatment, radiation etc. Hopefully I can get through that as I have in the past three years with the other operations. Sometimes wonder if it does make you stronger or just more tired.
