Hello all

It's a while since I posted, so hello to one and all.

I live in Canada, and I haven't seen my Dad, who has Alzheimer's since April 07, although I speak on the phone to him and my Mum a lot.

I am returning home for a family wedding in February, and I know I'm in for a shock. He has declined enormously since I last saw him. He's now incontinent, wanders off, has scant memory left, and little grasp of what's going on.

I wondered if anyone how best to cope? I'm particularly concerned as my 13 year old daughter is close to him, and I know she will be shocked and upset by the change...

Many thanks, all advice gratefully received...

Hello

Have you told your daughter about grandad ?
If you explain, I think at her age she would understand.
Tell her the little she needs to know, and if she asks question, tell her the truth.
Children can be very understanding, sometimes more than adults.
