Policy on gifts

I asked the manager of the CH what the policy was on staff accepting gifts.
He said no money whatsoever is allowed to be accepted by staff but gifts are accepted. They are all gathered together in his office and shared equally amongst the staff.
He said that otherwise the night staff and some other staff who are less visible don't get anything.
I'm planning on buying some very small boxes of chocolates but lots of them.
