Getting Deferred Payments AFTER someone has moved into care

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone has any specific experience with deferred payments to pay for for care home fees, specifically when trying to get deferred payments AFTER someone has moved into care?

I'm hitting two issues initially.

  1. Firstly, it seems that getting deferred payments AFTER someone is in care is only allowed in 'special' cases. If the social services assesment was not done BEFORE the person moved into care things seem to be more complicated. Anyone else had this experience.
  2. Secondly, there seems to be a limit on the amount of money that will be available for deferred payments AND this does not cover even half the cost of the care. Again, anyone had experience with this.

thanks
Charlie

No experience I'm afraid BUT this is entirely driven by each LA: they don't even have to offer deferred payments if they don't want to. Which local authority are you dealing with?
