Funeral order of service - copyright issues?

Hi all

Dad passed away last weekend and we are now organising the details of the funeral.
Does anyone have a feel for whether there are copyright issues if we want to include some song lyrics or a poem in the order of service booklet?

My condolences on the loss of your dad KingB.

Good question. I don't have a definitive answer but as this practice is very widespread and the process of obtaining the copyright holder's agreement is likely to be lengthy, I imagine most people just go ahead.

It wouldn't be great publicity for any copyright holder to sue in these circumstances.

Condolences on your loss, I had to arrange my dads a few weeks ago. The funeral director we used is brilliant and everything was handled so well, I was even able to arrange the service via email with the minister including music and verses.

Speak to your funeral director, they get requests all the time for certain music and with the crematorium or church will have taken care of any copy right fees if applicable to their business.
