I helped a daughter in July last year as the Social Worker wanted their jointly owned house sold and the proceeds divided but after an assessment by the CHC teem she was given CHC funding.
The mother had another assessment in October and she was given CHC funding for 12 months and the daughter was advised to downsize as the mother may not qualify for CHC funding in 12 months time.
We spoke to the nurse in the home and she said she would be very surprised if the mother would be alive in 6 months.
Sadly the mother passed away yesterday.
From an outsiders point of view as well as the daughter not being legally obliged to sell as a joint owner occupier if she had taken note of what the Social Worker / assessor had said she would have lost a lot of visits to her mother in the last weeks of her life and the house could have been sold to finance a situation which never happened.
