Frequent soiling

Sorry to be frank but I was hoping someone might be able to put my mind at rest.
My dad is in the last stage of his Alzheimer's and is now bedridden in the care home. He is taking some fluids and sleeping a lot. He is very restless at times and I have read this is down to malabsorption of oxygen in his breathing.

Today he has started soiling himself frequently; three times in as many hours. Is this a precursor to anything coming? Or is it simply that his body cannot cope with the liquids he is being fed?

Has anyone had something like this happen to their loved one? Thank you, in advance.
