Finding your thread or a reply

A reminder about threads and posts.

A thread is a topic that has been raised by a member.

In essence, it is a conversation on that topic that may include a number of members who reply to give their views.

The person who started the topic did so making an initial post.

Other members reply to the thread with their own posts.

It can be a challenge to find a thread that we have posted, or a reply someone may have made to a question we have posed in any thread.

There is not a simple way to go straight to what we may want to know, but we can use the forum tools to get there.

You are on line at this point, so your member name will be displayed in What's going On?

Find the box that is called Forum Information

There are two links in there:

1. Find all posts by Brucie

2. Find all threads started by Brucie

Sixth step: Find all posts

If you click on Find all posts by Brucie then the posts will be listed.

Seventh step

If there are many posts listed, they will be split into pages, and you need to click in the next page to move there.

N.B. only the latest 500 posts can be seen because they are all that are kept by the forum software.

Eighth step

Looking back at the list of posts that have been made, there are two links for each.

Links are underlined.

In the example below the two links are:

1. Walkabouts!!!!

2. I once had to climb a 6 foot fence around the...

Ninth step

If you click on the first link Walkabouts, you will be taken to the first post that was made in that thread.

Not your first post, but the first post of the thread.

If you click on the second link I once had to climb a 6 foot fence around the..., then you will be taken to that reply.

Please note that the list of posts will have one entry for every reply you made in that thread.

Tenth step: Find all threads you started

In the Forum Information box there is also the option to list all threads you have started.

Click on this.

Eleventh step

A list of the threads you have created will appear.

Click on a thread title - they are underlined - to view a particular thread.

Where a thread has spread over several pages, the page numbers are also underlined and you can click on one to move to a particular page.
