Does anyone know if it's possible to get a cleaner to deal with my mums room? I really can't cope with it anymore, no matter what I do, how much I clean and bleach, the poop smell is there, today it's actually at a point where I was retching uncontrollably, it's really getting me down, the poop side of things is the part I really struggle to deal with, no negative comments please, placing mum in a care home is not an option right now

cleaner?

This must be a very difficult thing for you to deal with. Has your Mum got a social worker? could social care provide or suggest one? does your mum receive attendance allowance? if so you could just google local care at home/home care provider and explain the problem and pay for it by direct debit from your mums AA but try social services first if she has some sort of care package it might be something that can be covered by it.
Good Luck, we understand how you feel

Hi Kazza,

You have my sympathies, and Im the same, understand the retching, you could try googling that well known pest control firm R***tokill.
They deal with hazardous cleaning jobs,as I know someone who rented property out and they had to get this company to deep clean the flat as it was awful. But good luck, and in the meantime, dab a bit of vic** vapour rub up your nose to hide the smell,it helps xx

Nature's Miracle products do the trick for us. If you google the name, you might find an online vendor who can send them to you. Perhaps consider hiring help for one major cleanup of the room, and then to keep it under control, use Nature's Miracle. It is made for pet odors, skunk odors, dirty laundry, the whole gamut of bad smells. We have dogs, and when they have indoor accidents, this is the product - the only one I know - that we turn to for the cleaning job. I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time.

Sorry to hear about this. Is there any poop hidden anywhere as I would have thought that with bleach and cleaner that it would go.

If she has carpet then use a biological washing power to wash fabrics and carpets. Do the curtains too ( you never know!)

Also try the pet shop spray deoderizer/sanitiser to help get rid of the smell.

There must be cleaners, what about the ones that clean up after dead bodies? Rentakill would probably do it as well.

I feel for you, I have to use gloves when I touch my mum's clothes and it has to be put in it's own laundry bag

Local environmental health may have a list of specialist cleaners?

I have a large supply of gloves also. I use them for mums clothes, getting her plates when she's done and basically anything she's touched, I won't touch without gloves. I feel awful being this way cos I know if it were me with the incontinence mum would deAl with it and I doubt she would find it as hard as me....and she probably would moan as much as me either....but I can't help resenting this role.

Get yourself some masks like dentists wear, they do help. I find a steam cleaner is great for getting rid of odours particularly if you add a drop of zoflora which again is great for disinfecting and deodorising. Its the hardest thing to do and I do sympathise. I used to be a carer and have been down this road. I know care for my mum and she has the odd accident but at the moment its just urine, but I know this day is not far away! Yankee candles are great too I burn these in mums room as the smell of wee is overpowering and it completely takes the smell away. I wish I could help more. Big hugs xxx

There is no problem not wanting touch poo.
But remember not touching anywhere with dirty gloves.
