Ok so dad is now embarking on day care and we were then looking to use one of as respite care, SS have been back n forth with forms and questions to entail in dad being entitled to no help financially due to his work pension , AA , state pension etc but they also used the joint account and joint savings in their equation , all of this isn't leaving mum with much who only receives half state pension as it is.
Any advice re these joint accounts ? Should they be split , is mum entitled to take some out or will they see that badly?.. Or what we can do now.
    Any advice appreciated .

Normally when there is a spouse any money in joint accounts is split in half, and only half is taken into account when doing the assessment - I'd ensure that this has been done, and that the LA are not taking the whole amount into account.
