did anyone else feel lost after been diagnosed?
Hello Jorbin. You may be feeling what is called anticipatory grief and here is a link to an AS Factsheet about the matter (see page 4 in particular) https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/download/downloads/id/1796/factsheet_grief_loss_and_bereavement.pdf
When my wife was diagnosed we both suffered from it. I found that I worked through this phase quickly as I got busy organising things. However, I don't think my wife is through it yet.

It may help you to use whatever facilities are available in your area to get talking to people and here is a link to a page where you can use your post code to see what's available in your region http://alzheimers.org.uk/?_ga=2.267462092.330343123.1523487101-559654205.1505889693

Hi

I am not frightened. I have the support of the memory clinic and will be attending the In2minds course next months, and do to YODEL but still feel lost.

I can keen on photography and take photos for fundraising and would like to travel with others who understand.

Google Dementia Adventure for supported holidays. I hear they are very good. Enjoy.

I'm not yet diagnosed but I'm feeling lost now if I have dementia. I am experiencing memory lapse lately. :(
I am looking forward to going to the In2minds group then I will know more about dementia.

I found frustrated that I am told of the groups I can join and activities to do but no one to one times with a person to talk about my emotions. When I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue I was invited to sessions one to one with a Mental Health CBT Specialist. Then invited to group sessions. These sessions have been invaluable to me but not invited to Alzheimer’s sessions?

Hi @Jorbin, it may be worth asking your GP for a referral to a CPN (Community Psychiatric Nurse). My wife got a referral and had a few useful 1 to 1 chats with the nurse. It took a while to get a first appointment though.

I have emailed my Care Worker at The Meadows asking for a referral to see mt Mental Health Specialist.
She was fantastic in working with me with CBT for the CFS.
