Dad is starting to fall asleep now with a spoon in his hand, he even had a piece of toast in his mouth when he again fell asleep. I constantly have to nudge him awake... Not all meals. Is this an escalation in his dementia ?

Hi Blondebomber

Just wanted to bump your post up to the top, as you haven't had any replies.

My Mum (age almost 99) falls asleep all the time, in fact when I visit her in the care home the majority of the residents are fast asleep in their chairs. There are a few who need help with eating and even that is a "work of art" by the carers trying to spoon feed the sleepy ones

Perhaps it's due to the medication he is on?

I hope some others come along and reply soon

Pauline
