Face mask exemption

I care for my husband who has frontal lobe dementia. Would be be exempt from wearing a face mask? I have only tried to take him out with one on once and he found it very difficult just for a very short time. I fear that if he had to wear it longer it would cause a considerable problem. Unfortunately he has a hospital appointment in a couple of weeks and I just don't know if he will cope with wearing a mask in what has the potential to be quite a long appointment. Any advice gratefully received!

Yes he should be exempt as he appears to fall into the following exemption category:

people who cannot put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability

if not a mask, might he accept a bandana cowboy style or a scarf ... though, as the guidance suggests, I don't think you need to worry, having your husband as settled as he can be is the priority
