Does anyone know if dementia can cause problems with the eyes? Starting to experience blurred vision and sensitivity to light and double focus a lot.

My symptoms started with double vision, I also have great sensitivity to light. I try to lways wear a hat. My vision has been helped greatly since I got transition lenses that darken according to the light, worrying about finding sunglasses was too much to cope with. Also needed bifocal rather than varifocal lenses as the latter worsen my giddiness. Hope you have a good optician or if not can find one. :)
Best wishes
Sue

Hi Steven
I've had mixed dementia for 10 years now and over that period of time YES my eyesight has become progressively worse so I have to go the the eye specialist at least 2-3 times a year for a check up might be a good ide for you to get your eyes tested again;)

Three years ago before my husband was diagnosed he complained all the time about car headlights at night. Now he shuts his eyes if I'm driving home at night.

He got new lenses in his glasses in April because of a big change in his prescription for one eye. Then in October I took him back to the opticians as he could not see at all, if there was a shadow across the path when we were out walking and again a big change in his prescription but in the other eye. He is short sighted and the optician said not to get reaction lenses but for him to wear a cap when he is out walking and the cap has helped a lot.
