Mum going to [new] Nursing home today on discharge from hospital with broken hip, now pinned. she is now 91 and, we are told, unable to mobilize, as cannot remember that she cannot walk, and also cannot remember any exercises the physio. has given. She has had ad for about 7 years, maybe more. All paperwork and discussions centre on need to monitor her very carefully and that she is at great risk of further falls. She never was one for following instructions. How many falls can a now frail 91 year old take? I see her attempting to 'escape' from a wheelchair as this is her first experience of one. Apparently bed has crash mat and monitor, as this is current practise. I feel very worried for her.
