Eol chc has anyone any experience of eol chc . Mum now is being fed at risk Salt assessment recommends swallow unsafe for anything oral. She is still eating a little but wasting away .sores to arm and fingers . She is obviously going to aspirate again . It's so cruel. I have thought of asking gp re eol chc assessment.

You should ask the GP if she meets the condition for Fast Track CHC and is able to sign
'The individual fulfils the following criterion:
He or she has a rapidly deteriorating condition and the condition may be entering a terminal phase. For the purposes of Fast Track eligibility this constitutes a primary health need. No other test is required.'

Taking the NHS definition of EOL
'End of life care is support for people who are in the last months or years of their life.'

My mum's fast track application was turned down on Christmas Eve, apparently the nursing home staff described mum as palliative stable to the CHC assessor. I haven't been able to get any paperwork from CHC so have not been able to see exactly what has been written about her.

It’s such a mindfield , I have spoken to a specialist today who is looking into it but won’t hold my breath as the home will still say she is eating . I have made the point clear it’s for comfort and the advice is not safe . Ask to look at paperwork
@15moterbike, I would be very interested to hear how that goes, I am starting to wonder if I need to go down that route myself with mum.
I will let you know not holding my breath but I know mum is in a terminal phase now . Swallow won't improve. I will keep fighting
