hi everyone my mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer/dementia july 2018 and is now very ill. she doesn't eat anymore and if we can get 100mls of fluid in her a day we are lucky. as anybody been through this themselves how long can my mum survive like this.

Im afraid that this slow shutting down of the body is the final stage of dementia. Unless they die of something else first (like a heart attack) then it is something that will affect us all. Has your mum been placed on palliative care?

My mum passed away 2 years ago and did not eat or drink anything at all for 17 days, although I gather that most people do not last this long.
It is also more common that you would expect for people at this stage to suddenly rally. The final months can be a real roller coaster.

I do think that you need to have a very open discussion with her doctors.
