This week mum has had a downturn - I know vascular dementia is like this - a sudden step down but it doesn't make it any easier. had a call monday to say that mum was refusing to eat or drink and was sleeping most of the time. Doctor doesn't think stroke - possible water infection but has yet to prescribe anti biotics? Today she has been fed some porridge but is choking on liquids so they are going to ask about thickeners? She is no longer weight bearing - and all this in a week!

Am hoping that she will perk up if and when she has the antibiotics but not expecting her to be back where she was before?

When she is asleep she is so completely zonked out - nothing seems to wake her ?

She looks very frail laying in bed - they have tried moving her to a reclining chair in the lounge but she just falls asleep

It is really difficult watching this happening to our loved ones. My Mum had a similar sudden downturn and it is heartbreaking to see. Sending you a hug and hope things might improve with the help of antibiotics xx
