My OH had his 6 monthly test MMSE and was not able to understand it this time, Donezipil to be continued though, has anyone else had experience of this, SL
Hello silverlining, my hubby had his checkup a month ago, our Dr asked him 3 question but could not answer them so he didn't continue, as he now doesn't know what anyone is talking about, l said to him Donepezil ďoesn't seem to be of any benifit to him now, he said he musn't stop taking it as he will go down hill very quick. He has been on it for 3yrs.
My husband was on Donepezil for around 7 or 8 years. As far as I know it helped him but it's really hard to say. He had no side effects. When it was considered to be having little impact he was changed to Rivastigmine (Exelon). He was on that for around 3 years. When his scores in the MMSE got to around 10 he was taken off that. For the last 2 years he has had no medications for his dementia.
My husband was given the MMSE test every 3 months.
My mum was on it for three years and it was only stopped when she had all her meds withdrawn two months before she died. She had not had an MMSE for about 18 months prior to stopping.
