Hi everyone,
Mum is in a care home for nearly a year now, and has really deteriorated. Do they ever get better? Enough to come back home with a care package in place?
thanks

Hello @Mrs V. Im sorry to hear about your mum and the way she is deteriorating.

When you say, do they ever get better, do you mean do they ever recover? The answer to that is, no, Im afraid that they dont. The disease is progressive, which means that they continue to deteriorate until eventually they die. As they deteriorate their needs grow ever larger, so they require more and more care. There are very, very few people who have successfully managed to bring someone home out of a care home. One person (ie you) cannot do everything that a whole team of people did, even if they (you) are with them 24/7 and have a care package.

Hi canary,
Thanks for your reply. I understand, and I guess it’s not going to happen.
Thanks
