Seems after speaking with admiral nurse I got my hopes up way to much! She spoke with SS about my OH getting up 3 to 5 times a night and myself getting real tired. Apparently with cuts in care and funding I can't have any help ! SS are coming out on 19th to do an annual review but to be honest I can't be bothered as there seems no point! Decided to take a bit of a break from TP . Take care all of you xxx

What a battle we seem to have all the time with authorities. I am new here and having read through a lot the last couple of days I am astonished and disappointed with what some poor folk seem to have to go through to get help with a loved one.

Do these authorities not see that if primary carer at home is not in good health or getting sufficient rest themselves then the dementia patient will be pit at risk.

Take care

Please speak yo your GP or Memory clinic consultant about medication. I had this problem. - it is unbearable losing sleep to this extent. On Zopiclone and Trazodone for John I get a decent six or seven hours. The consultant said if this stops working she will look at something else.

Marionq makes a good suggestion, chick. Do try this route.
I don't recall reading of anyone receiving help from carers through the night, but several people have been helped by medication for their loved one.

Don't get disheartened or leave TP please, Heike! We all have setbacks but we need to battle through them. As others said, get the GP involved. If you haven't got a respite allocation yet, now is the time to apply for it.

I am so sorry Chick.
It is hard enough without all the fighting , pushing and disappointments .
No one should have to reach crisis point to get a crumb of help.

My Admiral nurse didnt win my last fight to get a specialist hoist for mum . That too was because of cost.
It is horrible having your hopes dashed so.

I wish I could give you more than this cyber
((((((HUG)))))).

Dear Chick

It really knocks us back when, having our hopes built up a wee bit, we end up disappointed and let down again. Hope you will come back to TP soon. xx

Oh Chick. That sounds desperate, and yet, I understand as I've just come out of a bout of real depression. I hope you know you can contact me any time for a shoulder to lean on.

I've done that a few times: believed people when they promised almost the earth to us, and then left us abandoned. I know what it's like, love.

Don't leave. Come and talk. I know it's wearisome to put it all on here. But I care. Never forget that. I care. xx

Hiya all thank you for the lovely wishes! Means so much. Been drawing up my battle plans, looking at the care act and various other material and been reading lots of posts on here to get the "knowledge"!! Got mental health appointment today with John . Can't say I am looking forward to it. SS on the 19th but don't think other than offering sleeping meds will be on the agenda. John can't take these due to his medications. I guess I just miss my work, my friends , financial independence and some form of normality and most of all I miss my John. However despite all this I can cope somehow ! It just gets to me when you read about ppls struggle on here and it makes me angry that so little support from the services is available . Dignity and morality does not extend to dementia when it comes to the services . How come every illness is covered by the NHS and dementia isent???? We all should not have to struggle like this . Sorry for the long post . Love to you all Heike xxx
