Hi everyone, I understand that it is possible to get social services to pay funding direct, enabling me to chose my own care package and administer it as best suits my dad - instead of the social providing the carers from an agency. Or something like that. Has anone done this or know about this. Does it work?
I would be interested in having better control over who the carers were. . .

    Dear Frazer,

Could you outline the scheme specifically? I'm not quite sure what you mean by a 'package'?

    Cheers Nada,
I'll have a look at that - it might be the thing. What I want to achieve is the ability to vet and manage the visiting carers in order to get the best / most appropriate care for dad. Previously, the SS have spent a lot of money on what has been very poor end service. If we had that money we could use it much better, appropriately and more flexibley (visits to Bali?). that sort of thing . .
