Tomorrow is a year since Dad passed away.

The last year has gone by in a blur it seems. I still miss him and I cry most days...sometimes I feel calm and other times the terror of not seeing him again takes over.

My sister and I are going to release some helium ballons tomorrow and drink some whisky for him!!!! :)

I am a little scared about how I will feel....

Maria, I can understand so well what you mean. I think you and your sister have found a lovely way to remember your Dad - I think I'll borrow your idea when it is the anniversary of my Dad's death. I never realised until he left how much I relied on him just "being there" in my life.

Please drink an extra glass of whisky tomorrow as a toast to all darling Dads, from me!! ;)

Thinking of you and sending you hugs.

Hi Maria

Thats a lovely way to let your dad know your thinking of him.............at Rays funeral we had a Dove Release, it was so lovely...........3 white doves, representing The Father, The Son and the 3rd represents The Holy Spirit.

They are in beautiful white baskets with lilac ribbons, lily's & orchids....... two doves are released and they circle the sky, they keep circling until the 3rd dove is released and then the three of them fly off together, its suppose to mean the 3rd dove is the spirit of the deceased and the two doves wait to escort the third one to heaven..............it was very touching, it was a lovely sunny day and everyone cheered when the three dove's joined up and flew off together............... we all watched until they flew out of sight, it was a lovely thing to see.

I hope your day goes well, try not to worry about it, i'm sure your dad will be with you tomorrow.

Love as always
Alex x

Like, Nell, may just 'borrow' that one myself ....

Will be thinking of you - and yes, raising a glass (of something) to 'wonderful dads'

Tomorrow will be OK Maria - do not be afraid - what can happen? You may cry and feel upset, you may not - it can be no worse than the range of emotions that you have experienced for the past 12 months - you will be OK.
The balloons sound a lovely idea.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the lovely messages.

Alex, the doves sound wonderful!...:)

Today I feel calm and I think I am looking forward to finally "releasing" Dad ....I know I cant hold him to me forever and that my sadness is doing just that- he will always be in my heart and by my side - but its now time to let him know I am OK...and that he can feel at peace wherever he is.

Thanks once again.

Hugs
