Control TV away from home

Hi, my dad has just been diagnosed with mixed dementia hence why I am here.

He is finding it difficult to use the tv, is there a gadget we can buy that will allow us to control his tv from our own home? We have the hive which does his heating which has helped tremendously but now need help with the tv.

any advice appreciated
