Concerned about my dad

My dad, who is 87, has shown signs of dementia for some time but all I get from his doctor is "that's it's part of getting old"! He gets quite aggressive especially when he has misplaced things believing that they have been stolen.

I'd really appreciate any guidance on how to obtain a proper diagnosis and if any member has faced the same issue.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds poor of the doctor. Have you tried some of the questions form the MMSE to see how he gets on. For example does he now the date, year, prime minister, can he tell you a story of the news? If you give him an address to remember, can he remember it 5 minutes later?

Could you ask to see a different GP perhaps?

My Dad gets convinced people are stealing his things, we try and find his hiding spots and retrieve it quickly or just apologise for "borrowing" his things
