Well we are going have to sit tight and wait them to send us a date for the DST to be carried out. We have asked to be present and will argue every point on behalf of mum.

The care home are saying that now she has stabilised from the downturn and all her vitals are ok that she is now not considered to be on end of life and cannot be eligible for the fast track route.

Best of luck, really hope you get a good outcome x

I guess like everything, anecdotal evidence will show some people getting funding easily, and others having to fight for ages then get nowhere.

It seems a very flawed system though if the same criteria don't seem to be applied everywhere and some people have to engage lawyers to get results.

Absolutely! It's a very flawed system indeed. The best we can do on TP is to share our experiences and try to ensure that everyone understands the importance of thorough preparation and as much involvement of people who know the PWD - including of course the main carer(s) - as possible in the process. One thing we can be sure of is that leaving it to the professionals is unlikely to boost the chances of a successful outcome.
