Well its been a long time since I have been on here, 2009 actually and my mum is still in her Nursing Home in Devon and they have been amazing with her and she is still getting her CHC :)

However since I have been on here my mother in law had a stroke, and was left paralysed on one side, and has been in a nursing home for about 4-5 years now, and recently we moved from Kent to Wales and she wanted to be moved as well, and found her a lovely home close by, however since Dec 12 her mental health has deteriated and has been for a scan and dementia has been confirmed.

I believe that she is entitled to CHC but since the long last fight in 09 I know a lot has changed 1/ we are no longer in England 2/ So much has changed on that side and not sure where to start now, so some advice would be appreciated and what the criterias are now. Thanks

Hi Jackie,:)
Sorry to hear about your MIL,
and much sympathy that you have to jump through all of the
NHSCC hoops once again.

As far as I know this is the latest framework in Wales.

Continuing NHS Healthcare
The National Framework for Implementation in Wales

http://wales.gov.uk/docs/dhss/publications/100614chcframeworken.pdf

You can I believe, request an assessment by contacting the Local Health Board.

Best of luck.:)
