A class mate of my wife ( mature student ) was talking to her and mentioned he had a mother with Alzheimers in Jamaica. He is struggling to setup care for her. Does anyone have any tips for him - either about Jamaica specifically or for people with relatives abroad who are trying to put things in place remotely ?

I have asked her to give him the AS helpline number and TP url.

cheers

Phil

This is going to be of no help , but I had my son cousin over for a few days from St Vincent , not the same Ireland I know , she is a carer of her untie who has dementia and she gets no help at all as they none out they , only family

she is only 21, so her family in England send her over to UK for a holiday

He could try trawling through the Jamacia government site on the url below to see if there is any info or help to be had. Would think Alzheimers may come under mental health.

http://www.jis.gov.jm/health/index.asp

Hope he has some success, must be dreadful trying to do things at such a distance.
