Caring for Dad

Dad has vascular dementia and Mum, his carer, passed away on Sunday.
He wants the family out of the house and to leave him be. He can’t live by himself. He’s very angry in lucid moments and at times realises Mum has gone.
Other times he’s abusive and unrecognisable.
Trying to deal with death stuff and him. Any advice appreciated!

Welcome to DTP @SusanS
I‘m so sorry about your mum.
Personally, I’d get onto social services & the GP. Explain the situation & demand urgent assessments. Ask about the Crisis team.
Please keep posting as you’ll get lots of support here.

Hello @SusanS and welcome to DTP please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your Mum.
This sounds a very difficult situation for you all have you tried contacting your Dad‘s GP to see if medication could help calm him? Maybe it’s also time for a SS assessment to try and find the best way to help your Dad manage?
Now you have found the forum I hope you will continue to post this is a friendly and supportive forum....
