Hi

Does anyone know anything about claiming carers allowance and paying someone else to care for a relative. I have got the chance of a evening job but do not want to lose the carers allowance as i would need to pay someone to care for my m/in/law for 1 hour when i go to work and my husband arrives home. I have been in touch with DWP and they say i can employ a friend but not a close relative what is classed as close, is it a relative of my m/in/laws only or includes a relative of mine, do they check up on details of the person nominated as i was thinking of my sister as my m/in/law would feel safe with her. Also does anyone know what details you have to supply to the DWP such as national insurance number etc...............

I was told that you cannot employ Husband /wife,but anyone else who does not live in the same house.
That is on direct payments.
