Hi, if anyone has any recommendations for care homes in Nottingham, would you please PM me? I've had a couple - if you're reading this, thank you very much, you know who you are! I'm just not sure how mobile Mum's going to be again after a hip fracture and I don't know if I can still look after her at home, even with a care package. So a Plan B is probably a good idea and it might turn into Plan A sooner than I'd like!

Thanks very much.

Sorry but I cannot recommend any places in Nottingham.

I am not sure if there has been a hospital assessment but if so have they recommended the type of home, eg nursing or dementia specialist homes. Then you could google up ' .....home in Nottingham' and see what is listed. There is nothing better than actually checking any yourselves and then comparing one against another. For instance I soon knew that I wanted a separate dining room and two or three lounges, as well as a comfortable bedroom. Also the attitude of staff and general 'feel' of the place.

I never made appointments, just went along and the one that was right for us, never objected and each time all staff gave me a warm welcome. If there is a social worker involved they should have a county/city copy of Homes within your area. Its well worth asking for their list.

BeckyJan, thanks very much for your reply. We do have a list of homes in the area so at least that'll cut down on searching time. And, as you say, it's best to start visiting....
